I enjoyed the laughter that these comments induced in the New York audience. It's actually extremely frightening and sad at the same time. I read yesterday that Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini (also author of the powerful A Thousand Splendid Suns) is being made into a movie. Now, the parents of the Afghani boy actor who is raped by an older boy in the book and film, want the rape scene deleted out of fear.
